I am blessed to teach third grade at a wonderful Title I school in northeast North Carolina. Our students are loving, hard working, easily motivated, and care about each other and their success! They thrive on competitions and reaching goals set for them throughout the school year.
Our students get excited, work harder and stay more engaged when they are given options and choices which makes them feel valued and that their interests matter!
We are a diverse school consisting of students and families from various backgrounds and cultures as well as Coast Guard families. They are each unique and have a special way of winning our hearts with their kindness and thoughtfulness. The students and staff at our elementary school have truly become a family to one another!
This year, thanks to many generous donors, DonorChoose.org, ESPN and the Dick's Sporting Goods Foundation our school has started our first ever running team consisting of almost 75 students ranging from kindergarten to fifth grade.
This 5K Color Run will be a great community event in which we will be able to focus on exercise, health and wellness with our community, students and families.
The color powder included in this part 2 project will be specifically used for our volunteers at each of the 4 arches to throw at the runners as they pass through the arches to help make the event exciting! The previous powder received has been put into individual bags for participants to use as they complete the 5K.
This color powder will allow us to have color everywhere! Participants will have colorful shirts, pants, socks, faces, and bodies, the music will be blasting, snowcones will be prepared and served, and the community will have a day of fun in which they will always remember. What a great time this will be for our running club members to show how their stamina has improved throughout the school year and to be recognized for meeting their individual goals.
Thank you for considering our project for resources which will ensure our 5K Color Run will be a successful, colorful, and exciting event to remember in the lives of all who attend!
