My students absolutely love learning! They come to school ready to learn. They are creative and love to share their work with others.
My students are readers, thinkers, creators, talkers, and questioners!
The kids in my class love to be challenged and understand that mistakes or problems are opportunities for learning. They love hands-on learning and being able to share their creative ideas with their peers. I love being able to see them take pride and ownership in their learning.
My Project
I am creating this project in order to get more picture books for my classroom. Our read aloud time is really special and something we look forward to daily. Since we read a book everyday, having great stories to read really gets conversations started at the carpet. It is a time to share our thoughts, ask questions, talk about tricky vocabulary. After we have our read aloud time, I put the books on the board for them to continue exploring through out the week. The books we read become so popular sometimes a waiting list gets started for who gets it next.
I love seeing my students so excited about reading!
Our read aloud time is not just about reading a good book. We share our thoughts with our peers and talk about the story. We ask questions and think about the purpose of the story. My students keep book journals where they write about reading. They often use the read aloud books to write about and share more of their opinions about the story. Having more books available in the classroom will enhance this time!
