Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We have an excited, energetic, talkative, amazing group of first graders! We have 30 students who love to learn. First grade is a busy place where we are always working to balance social-emotional learning with meeting academic standards as well! Most of all, we want to teach children to continue to love learning and create a desire for children to become lifelong learners!
First grade are a unique group of students, making a big shift between kindergarten, with growing independence and skills!
My Project
My students need a variety new and interesting books to serve as an option for independent classroom reading. These amazing guided reading books would give students more opportunities to read high quality and engaging texts in the with teacher support. First grade students take off with reading skills. They meet weekly with me to learn new reading strategies.
The guided reading books will help to provide differentiated reading instruction to students during small groups.
Students will be able to choose from a variety of books that are engaging, and also at the correct reading level. The guided reading books will also be able to be used for independent reading practice.
These books will be a valuable resource to the classroom.
The differentiated books will help students to be successful in learning reading strategies and to become independent readers!
