My Students
Students from across our district love Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, and Junie B. Jones. Unfortunately after a massive tornado, students from two of our elementary schools no longer have their own classrooms or libraries for the coming school year.
Students with access to books they love are more excited to read. These books will interest even the most reluctant readers. Having additional copies in our school will allow us to loan the most popular titles to students in our district who don't have access to full libraries in their schools.
My Project
I've chosen a selection of books that have proven to be favorites with students in grades Pre-K through 6. Titles include Elephant and Piggie, Henry and Mudge, Junie B. Jones, Percy Jackson, Captain Underpants, and Harry Potter. All of the titles are series books that are guaranteed to get students hooked on reading.
In a year where everything is in flux, students in our school district will benefit from the comfort of familiar stories and characters. Not only will this grant allow them to have access to books to strengthen their reading skills, but will also provide them with the escape from everyday worries that comes with reading.
