Montessori Teacher in Training Eager to Attend the Montessori Event!
I need to travel to Dallas, TX attend The Montessori Event (American Montessori Society Conference) to further learn more about Montessori philosophy and best practices. This conference will directly impact my student's education.
My lower elementary Montessori classroom consists of 27 1st-3rd graders for the upcoming 19-20 school year. One of the great things about a Montessori education is the fact that a teacher gets to work with the same student for a total of three years when they are completing their cycle! My students are so amazing and unique!
Their love for learning is so pure and beautiful to watch.
I love being part of their journey. My student's interests vary from theater, fashion, video games, sports, and even writing spooky stories! My students vary in all different abilities and special talents. Their love for learning is so beautiful to watch and I love being part of their journey.
My Project
I am a lifelong learner who always wants to better my teaching practice. The 19-20 school year will mark my 5th year as a lead classroom teacher. As of May 19, I graduated with my Master's degree in curriculum and instruction for elementary education. In June 2019 I began an intense Montessori training program in order to become Montessori certified through the American Montessori Society (AMS). This program required me to be in training 6 days a week, 10-12 hours a day, for the entire summer. I have various days and weeks of training leading up to Summer 2020, where I will be tested to become officially Montessori Certified. I had already taught as a Montessori lead teacher in a lower elementary (grades 1-3) classroom during the 18-19 school year, however, this summer at training I fell in LOVE with Montessori. I know of other teachers at my school who have had the opportunity to attend one of the yearly Montessori Event and they said that it changed their life. I would appreciate and love the chance to attend the 2020 conference to not only better myself professionally in the classroom but to also bring back valuable information on the latest Montessori best practices to my team at my school.
