Ms. Marquez from Landover MD is requesting a class trip through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need sponsors for their trip to New York City to participate in the Montessori Model United Nations. They also need a chromebook for research.

Our school is a small school with big dreams. It wants to break into global learning by participating in the Montessori Model United Nations. The MMUN is an avenue for children to have their voices be heard on issues that will affect their future.
The our team is a group of highly idealistic and hardworking children who are committed to having their voices be heard not only in the national arena but in the international scene as well.
They believe that children have a voice that can determine what type of future they are willing to have. This is a group of Montessori children with ages ranging from 9-11 in the Upper Elementary and 12-13 for the Middle school. They have shown their commitment by previously having their voices be heard by doing research works and turning them into resolutions to global issues. These are passionate children who are willing to start carving their future now. I believe that as a teacher, I will have accomplished my duty by helping develop our future leaders.
The trip to New York City requires a lot of out-of-pocket expenses from the families of my students. These include hotel accommodation. Having sponsors will help subsidize the cost of the trip. It is the burning desire of the children to participate that inspires me to help raise funds for the trip. Because of extensive research that the children have to do on their assigned issues/topic, the availability of a Chromebook will be very helpful. The MMUN functions just like the United Nations. Children are assigned countries with their committees and their corresponding topic/issues. We do not have computers available for the MMUN team. Research is the main focus of this endeavor and time is of essence in making their resolutions. Because of the materials inadequacy, we are always on the brink of beating the deadlines. I also feel that the children are not able to do their best when it comes to doing their own researches.
The Montessori Model United Nations is one avenue where future leaders are molded.
Their participation in the conference gives them a chance to be heard in the international arena. It empowers the youth to be an active participant in shaping their future. The chromebook will definitely facilitate learning how to do research in support of their papers. It is one tool that should not be missing in this field. The children will be thoroughly thrilled to have one of their own.
