This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach 15 amazing children in a large urban district. Our Montessori program is an initiative to rebuild our district. The curriculum is amazing, and my students are developing into little peacemakers, creative/ critical thinkers, and independent workers. I am passionate about teaching my students. With your help, we can ensure that my students have all the materials they need for their tuition-free Montessori program.

My students are thriving and eager to learn despite the hardships and obstacles they face outside of school. My students inspire me to be the best teacher that I can be. I will continue to advocate for my students in order to ensure that they receive a quality education.
My Project
My first year Montessori students are eager to learn the Montessori way. What does that mean? My students do not receive worksheets to complete. They receive hands-on, individualized instruction with our unique materials. My students have used our Montessori materials to learn counting, comparing numbers, and basic addition.
This project will significantly help my students strengthen their mathematical understanding for future learning.
The Number Rods chart and Number Counter Chart will be an extension of an activity that we already have in the classroom. This activity will help the children learn number association by matching the quantity to the number symbol. The Banker Game will be used to teach place value and addition. Children will work together to solve addition problems, and rely on their friends to serve as the banker and cashier to help them finish the problems. The wooden box will be used in order to better store the bead materials that we have in our classroom.
