Our students are some amazing students. With all the distractions they face near the Atlanta Airport, it can be quite difficult to maintain focus. Our school is a Title I learning facility and a district's charter at that. Majority of our students receive reduced or free breakfast/lunch. Many of the families would like to support more, but the financial strain prohibits them. Our students love to engage in hands on activities, which is limited due to funding.
"Learning is not attained by chance, it must be sought for with ardor and attended to with diligence".
I am sure if my students could speak on their own behalf, they would tell you that they look forward to math class and absolutely enjoy learning the skills. However, I must speak on their behalf. I want to keep my students engaged in learning mathematical concepts while making connections to real life. I don't believe that the short comings of their environment should hinder their learning. After all, they are our future and they need you to invest in them during their growing phase.
My Project
The selected will help students get and stay engaged with learning math. All of these resources are hands on which will help the students grasp basic concept and make deeper connections with numeracy.
The outcome of using these resources will be noticeable.
I believe every student will grow and close some major gaps. The resources are user friendly and common core aligned. For this reason alone, the benefits are limitless. Any resources that is chosen from this lesson has been thought through with the best interest of third graders that will love learning math. Your help is needed to make this a reality.
