Help me give my students the monsoon they deserve! We are currently performing Lion City as a Side By Side performance with another school orchestra. This piece requires this amazing percussion instrument to create the feeling of rain.

My Students
The majority of my students receive free and reduced lunch. They come from families who work hard to provide the best for their children, but have difficulty providing nonessential items.
My students are amazing and talented young men and women in grades 6-12 who love music, and in particular, love learning how to play string instruments.
My students are excited to come to school each day and learn new ways to express themselves and make a positive impact through music!
My Project
Lion City is a Asian-inspired piece written by a female composer that my predominantly Hispanic students are learning to perform with another school orchestra from our district. Ensuring that my students have access to multicultural music and works composed by women is essential to making sure that my students have various representation in the group as well as in their performances and role models.
Building their cultural capital by performing works from other cultures is essential to developing global citizens.
The LP Monsoon percussion instrument creates the sound of rain, which is required for the piece to be correctly performed. Currently my students are learning and performing the piece without this vital component. Being able to provide this instrument would add texture, color, and character to the piece that would make it truly spectacular.
