My students need a quality monitor for editing videos for our metal detecting club to create photo presentations, edit photos and create other projects for our club and class.
I teach fourth grade in a small, rural, central Pennsylvania town. We have a very tight budget, but I try to incorporate as many activities as possible into our curriculum. I want to make the experience of learning memorable and am constantly devising new stations, labs and other fun activities to help key ideas stick in my students' minds.
Hands-on activities allow my students to fully experience the topic we are discussing.
Rather than simply reading about a science idea, the children live it! This multi-sensory approach anchors the concepts in the minds of my students and has helped them to become some of the top performers in standardized testing in our district.
My Project
Thanks to past donors, the metal detecting club at our school has taken off! A few weeks ago we had two well-known metal detecting YouTubers visit our classroom. Since their visit, fellow metal detectors from all over the US (and even outside the US) have been sending the club words of praise. Teachers and students from across the country have contacted us about starting their own clubs at their schools! The kids love the attention and would like to start creating their own videos and other projects showcasing the club, the cool things they have found and how-to guides for others who would like to start a metal detecting club at their school.
A new monitor will allow the kids to create and edit projects to showcase our metal detecting club.
Currently, the only option they have available is to do project work on a small iPad Mini. iPads are great, but the screens are so small that editing becomes very difficult. I have an older desktop computer that I would donate to the room, but I do not have an extra monitor. Any assistance you could give to our class would be greatly appreciated!
