Our school is located in a middle-class neighborhood in California, and most of my students live within the school boundaries.
The school is distinguished from other schools by its stimulating and nurturing environment, which recognizes and celebrates individual differences.
Our school community exhibits the vision, courage, and passion necessary to enrich the lives of our children. My students range from struggling to advanced, with most at grade level. The love of learning is evident in my students' enthusiasm when they are able to read. This is what every teacher wants to see, students that are excited about learning
My Project
I am requesting teacher manuals for a professional development on how to teach young children about the importance of money. If young children develop good financial skills from an early age they'll be ready for the financial challenges of adulthood. Giving kids a foundation and teaching them about money is critical for their personal development. Showing children the basics such as how to budget, spend and save will establish good money habits for life.
The resource for professional development I have chosen to help guide teachers to understand how to teach students the responsibilities of money is: Financial Literacy for the Young: Lower Elementary Teacher's Version.
This teacher manual guides the teacher through the steps of the financial world. It shows practical ways to teach kids to be money smart. The 21st century brings its challenges in a time of credit cards, internet banking, and online shopping children don't often see people buying products with cash. This makes it hard for kids to get their heads around what things cost. They might see this invisible money as an abstract and unlimited resource rather than real money coming in and out of the family bank account. This book helps teachers explain how money is not something "we pick off a trees." Thank you for considering your donating to my project.
