Welcome to my learning world. We are a low-income school with approximately 70% of our students receiving free or reduced price lunch. Approximately 1/3 of my students receive Title I services to assist in reading and math progress or Special Education services to meet their individual learning needs.
Our teachers work diligently to provide the best education for each and every student.
Our school motto, "Build Today's Learners To Become Tomorrow's Leaders," is the goal for all our students. My students are encouraged to be creative, curious, positive minded risk takers. They know the importance of true grit, perseverance, and lifelong learning. It is my responsibility to provide my students with creative, challenging and meaningful learning experiences.
My students are creative, clever and very spontaneous. They like to move, solve math problems, read and love lots of positive attention. From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I try to provide them with an ongoing learning experience that builds character, encourages teamwork and provides unlimited opportunities for learning.
My Project
My students have math goals and are in need of new games in order to attain their goals involving learning about money. They are constantly trying to improve their skills by earning, saving or spending classroom teacher "bucks". They love this opportunity to use their money skills. They are in need of games that can be used to teach and reinforce these everyday life skills that involve finances. I will be purchasing money puzzles that will teach coin recognition and coin values. I will also be purchasing a number of board games that will teach students about how to make good choices about how to spend their money and will also teach the importance of saving their money. The games will teach students about goal setting with money. One game will allow students to earn money by doing chores. This game is definitely a real world experience game that will teach students about finances. Receiving new games that will enhance their knowledge of money will be a life long need. It will give them early experiences with buying, spending and saving money through a hands of game approach to learning.
