Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have a wonderful, eager group of students who are interested in learning about anything! They love to learn about letters, number, shapes, the community, and anything science! They love completing experiments and making hypotheses about the world! My students range from the ages of 8-10 years old and have a variety of different needs. I have some students who have IEPs, receive speech services, and many are English as a second language learners.
All of my students come from low income households that struggle to make ends meet and are learning how to speak English.
Most of my students live in public, low income apartments and do not have access to technology or common items most of us take advantage of. As my own personal goal, I strive to give my students the best education I possibly can!
My Project
For many of my students, they come from low income homes and are behind academically. I focus many lessons on reviewing concepts from second grade that my students have not yet mastered. One concept they look forward to is counting money! I am looking for more materials to help give them hands-on experiences, besides just counting coins.
My goal is to help my students understand how to count money, make purchases, and be able to understand the importance of money management.
By using a variety of materials such as games, magnets, and puzzles in our centers, students will be able to work independently and at their own pace to develop better comprehension.
