Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school saying is, "Better today than yesterday! Better tomorrow than today!" I want to make their tomorrow better!
My class consists of a diverse group of learners.
My class has 26 second grade students of varying abilities. The socio-economic background of our students is reflected by our 97% free and reduced-price lunch rate.
I teach in an urban inner city school rich with diversity. I teach at a NAESP school. Most of my students need additional learning materials to meet grade level expectations. Please help me to make tomorrow better for them!
My Project
My students really enjoy learning about money and becoming fiscally responsible. They also enjoy learning math facts and perfecting their numeracy skills. We had "Money Matters" funded and wrote this project to add to those learning materials this year. They will enjoy playing Clumsy Thief and the Clumsy Thief Candy Shop game at math centers during blended learning stations.
Having hands-on high-interest games and resources available will help to excite all of my learners in the classroom!
They will be learning while having FUN! The more they play the more they'll learn!
My students need real-life activities to act out to help them become fiscally responsible. Students need to work with Math War Addition and Subtraction War Game Cards, the Learning Resources Match It! STEM Addition and Subtraction Game, Learning Resources Sea of 10 game, Learning Resources 10 on the Spot game, and Learning Resources Make A Splash 120 Mat Floor Game to practice math fact fluency and master second grade common core standard skills. Once they know their fact fluency for addition and subtraction they will also be able to add and subtract money. They need to master counting money and exchanging money to $1.99 in second grade,
The more exposure I give them to real-life math skills the more they will learn about math in the real world. My students will really benefit from all of the hands-on resources in this Money Matters Part 2 project and they will definitely help them to become fiscally responsible.
