This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are amazing, marvelous, and challenging on many levels. Our new reality of virtual learning comes with its own set of advantages and challenges and my scholars are rising to the challenge.
It is a journey to discover how best to serve every single one of my students and get them ready for college and for life, and I am enjoying the ride.
Our school is a Title I school in Atlanta where one hundred percent of our students are eligible for free breakfast and lunch. Many of our students are facing many socioeconomic challenges that hinder their academic success. As I watch them, enthused in a lesson, I regain my conviction that a future is possible and achievable for all my students.
My Project
Shopping at the classroom store is a habit for my students now. With this new project, we are asking for new snacks to store the shelves of the store. Students will earn paychecks for completing their assignments and for good behavior.
On market day, Friday, the store opens and they will use their money to make purchases; prior to making purchases they will take a look at the merchandise and decide how much they will spend based on their budget.
With your help, we will continue to grow and learn more about money, budgeting, spending and saving.
