My students are amazing! Our school is located in a rural part of central California in the foothills of the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains. We love our community and the natural resources we have in our area.
Many of my students come from middle to low-income families.
My students come to school every day excited to learn something new and ready to take on a new challenge. While our students have many obstacles in their lives, they persevere and succeed.
My Project
Work and you will be rewarded. In my classroom, the students job is to come to school each day and work hard. Students who do this will be paid with classroom money. They may then spend their hard earned money on everyday items as well as entertainment and recreation. The snacks and school supplies will be used in the classroom store for students to purchase with their hard earned money.
Students love to be paid for a job well done.
I use a classroom economy in order to pay students for their work. Students who come to school on time, complete their homework and participate in class will be paid for their work. I tell my students that school is their job and in order to keep their "boss" happy (the teacher) they must do their job well. Students learn the importance of hard work, being paid for their efforts and using their hard earned money to purchase supplies, pay for everyday living expenses (rent on their desk), and earning recreation and entertainment time.
