My students are 5 and 6 years old and love to be on the move all day long. They come from a wide variety of backgrounds, but they are all full of energy and ready to learn. Our school motto is to show pride in everything we do, and my kids always try their best.
I teach at a STEM school, and my students are ready to explore and learn new things through inquiry and movement each day.
Some of my students are in school for the first time, and they are all so full of energy. As their teacher, I love to take that energy and direct it into meaningful learning activities instead of making them sit still all day.
My Project
My students will be using their Rekenreks or math racks to learn about basic math and number sense skills. These skills will be the beginning of our conversation about money and financial literacy. Students will be learning important money skills such as counting by fives and counting by tens by utilizing the color patterns of the Rekenreks.
I teach in a STEM school so we will then be applying those number sense and counting skills through technology by using the Osmo pizza parlor game.
Students will be able to virtually run a pizza parlor and put their number skills to the test. This game will help make practicing math and financial literacy skills more hands-on and engaging for all my students.
