My Students

My students are amazing! They love exploring their environment and learning new things. I teach at a Title I/STAR School where more than 50% of our students qualify for Free and Reduced Meals, and 20% are English Language Learners. Our students come from diverse backgrounds including English Language Learners and military families.

Our students are excited to learn and I want to give them the best possible school experience!

In addition to the school curriculum, my students are learning kindness, patience, and understanding towards all students with various abilities. I want my students to strive for the best and to keep their love of learning alive as they continue in their education.

My Project

My Kinders love to observe the world around them and share their findings with others! This project will help them do just that! Students will be able to observe the monarch butterfly life cycle and record their findings using the ipad. They will be able to film the changes of the monarch larve, and talk about what they are observing using scientific language. We can then use the Bloomz app to share their observations with their families.

Students sharing their love of science inside and outside of the classroom is amazing!

Students will also get to research the creatures in our classroom with the set of life cycle books. We read these books aloud in whole group, and then students are able to relate what they are seeing happening with our creatures to what they have already learned! Magnifying glasses will also be a fantastic tool for students to be able to observe these life cycle changes up close and personal.

The hands-on life cycle sets of monarch butterfly and frogs will give students a 'real feel' for the overall changes that they are noticing happening in our tadpoles and monarchs. Students can use these life cycle sets to compare and contrast the differing life cycles, as well as be able to relate what they are seeing happening with our creatures to the models. These models will also be a great way to help young learners retell the life cycles with appropriate scientific language. My Kinders are excited to be able to share their love of science with their families, thank you for helping to bridge this gap!
