My Students

A few weeks ago was an open house at my school. I am always excited to meet the parents of my very energetic students. One mom, in particular, I will always remember. She came up to me and said: "Mr. Bragg, I need to talk with you." A little taken aback, I asked how I could help. She began to quietly laugh as she recounted what her 7th grader asked her when she got home from school that day.

"Mom, I need to know how much money you make and is that gross or net?" This mom was very impressed that her child was learning about financial literacy in the 7th grade.

My students are very inquisitive and eager to learn. They just need extra help to be successful.

My Project

Call for Action: Please help me provide classroom laptops so that my students can succeed in learning very important Financial Literacy skills. Hi, my name is Djuan Bragg and I am a 7th grade Leadership/Financial Literacy teacher at a magnet middle school in Seminole County Florida.

My students are working hard to master the Financial Literacy curriculum but are hampered by a lack of laptops.

My students do not have the means to bring their own laptops to class, as 67.5% of students are economically disadvantaged in this Title 1 school. The Financial Literacy curriculum is 100% online and currently I only have half enough classroom laptops. This creates difficulty in continuity of instruction.

How You Can Help: The Acer Chromebook will meet all my students’ needs as all work is saved on a Google Drive so not much memory is needed. I only need ten more laptops so that each student will have access to an individual laptop to complete their classroom work in Financial Literacy. Please help me reach my goal of five additional laptops and help children succeed!
