This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My second graders are eager to learn by exploring, experimenting, investigating, and experiencing new concepts in all content areas. These students strive to increase their reading levels on a daily basis.

My students treat each other as family, and they support one another in all their efforts of being great readers.

In this class of 28 students we have 7 ESL students, 6 students with educational delays, 2 students who have lost parents this year to violence and a few are working below grade level. When entering this classroom, my student’s drive and determination for reading is unmeasurable which qualifies them to be on target for becoming successful readers.

My Project

There is a dire need to increase the reading and literacy levels of all my students. Unfortunately, not all of my students are on grade level some are two academics years behind and struggle everyday to make gains in reading. Although these students struggle, their determination to master on grade level reading is resilient.

By donating to this project, you are supporting my efforts in increasing my students reading levels.

This comfy couch listening center and student CD players will allow my students to relax and enjoy reading or listening to a good book or story in an unrestricted area that is tailored specifically to meet their needs, without being embarrassed to select material on their levels, they can simply sit back and enjoy a quiet listening and reading area filled with a diverse and multi-level reading and listening selection that appeal to their liking.
