This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work in a very diverse school. Not only are we 65% free and reduced-price lunch along with being a Title l school we are also located near an air force base where many students move around a lot. My class has twenty wonderful students who would love the opportunity to sit in a comfortable place than having to sit all day in their hard school chair. Within my class, there are eleven girls and nine boys all from very different backgrounds. These owls have one thing in common, they all want to be successful in the classroom each and every day.

My Project

Flexible seating allows students to work around the room comfortably and focused. It provides students the environment they need to be their best. Flexible seating allows students to get out of their boring old chair and pick different types of seating like bean bags, pillows, exercise balls and lap tables. This ensures they are comfortable, focused and ready to learn. Trying to keep students engaged for seven hours a day is very challenging as a teacher, and by allowing students the freedom to choose a different type of seat will allow them to focus on the subject at hand for a longer time.
