Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students have moderate to severe Intellectual disabilities and autism. Some students have orthopedic impairments and need to use wheelchairs. One student uses a hearing aid and another student is tube fed twice a day. Most of the students need assistance with daily routines such as using the toilet and feeding. My students enjoy learning through hands-on activities. Some examples of hands-on activities in our classroom include using objects to do math activities, having an adapted book during reading activities, and making crafts. Some examples of modified student work include making a laminated number, shape, or alphabet file folder with lots of color and pictures.
My Project
School has started for us since mid August. We are having a good turn out with students logging into our Distance Learning video session lessons. The students are loving the live Zooms!
In addition to the live session lessons, we are diligently making homework packets for them especially those who really need the hands on work to understand what they are learning.
We need your help with purchasing from Teachers Pay Teachers more online modified curriculum for our students. We need to academically reach them and gain their attention by providing different curriculum to them. They are focusing on Math, Reading and Writing and I would like to incorporate Science, arts, Language Arts and Music.
