Help me give my students school supplies as I teach Zoom lessons to accommodate their needs for distance learning. Incentives such as Supplies and snacks will help to motivate them as they work hard.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach at a school in an urban area, where 97% of the students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Many of them struggle academically and lack the ability to be self-motivated and focus to do their best. I intend on creating those avenues to bridge the gap of learning for them in both the inclusion setting and my resource setting.
Many of the students that I service need extra resources, modifications, accommodations and teacher support to assist in their everyday learning.
They all learn at different rates and have various learning styles. My students suffer from minor to severe disabilities, which makes it challenging for them to feel successful in school. Although my students have daily struggles to learn that is beyond their control, they try their best to make me proud.
The educational services that are being provided to my students during this state, national, and international health crisis are special education instruction in reading and math on Zoom Meetings, general education assignments and instruction in all areas to be provided by the following means, Google Classroom assignments for ELA and Math, Studies Weekly for Social Studies, Study Island for Science; and all other assignments extended time when necessary.
My Project
The students that I currently serve are our next engineers, teachers, doctors, lawyers, professional athletes and many other professions.
As I lead my Zoom meetings where I teach math and ELA for IEP goals, my students will have earbuds to drown out the sounds of their backgrounds,calculators,notebooks, pencils, sharpeners, drawstring bags and snacks to assist with their weekly accommodations and modifications.
We don't realize how important these items are until the students a place in an environment where they no longer have access to the basic materials they need for learning and creativity. My students will now have access to the materials to show me that they understand what I am teaching them and they will have their calculators to motivate them to push pass any deficit such as Specific Learning Disability.
Every extended break I always send them home with an incentive package to let them know that I will be thinking of them. As we all know, this break was unexpected and my scholars would love for it to end right with an incentive package filled with love.
