I teach 9th and 10th grade language arts. The students who will benefit from this donation are my 10th graders so they are between 15-16 years old. I teach in a small school in a high-risk neighborhood.

In order to broaden my students awareness of the world around them, it's important to have updated materials. A lot of our books are extremely dated and are falling apart. I would like to have an updated book that can be used as a springboard to current events in the Middle East.

By having a class set of "Santa Claus in Baghdad and other stories", my students will be able to imagine what it is like to live in the Middle East right now. All of the narrators in the collection are in high school so I think the students will find the stories highly relevant to their own lives and interesting to them on a personal level.
