This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Searching for buried treasure, deciphering a map, and encountering mysterious clues along the way—sound like fun? My students can learn to be modern day treasure hunters with Geocaching.
My students live in the inner city, and thrive on new opportunities to become higher thinking individuals.
They attend a charter school that holds high expectations for them. They love the new and the unexpected. What better way to teach about maps, and codes, than by taking them on a treasure hunt through their own city.
My Project
By having a Hand-held GPS device, my students will be able to navigate through an area that they know in a new way. They will be able to record their adventure with pictures, and be able to create a memory book. These Geocaching adventures will foster teamwork, map skills, critical thinking skills, as well as physical activity.
Geocaching provides engaging opportunities for learning about history, math, and science.
The possibilities are limited only by the students imaginations and their desire for learning. Help unleash their inner explorer!
