I am the art teacher in a school with over 2,000 students who are very talented young boys and girls. We are located in the South Bronx and never receive money to buy supplies. I buy what I can, but it never seems to be enough. All students finish their work at a different pace and ask me what they can do next. It's easy to just hand them paper and markers, but it would be nice for them to have the opportunity to use supplies that they normally don't have the chance to use. I would love for them to be able to take out some clay and make a sculpture. Letting them have an opportunity like this in getting to create something all on their own with no instruction would have them quietly working and very intrigued. Now when they ask me what can they can do, they will actually be excited to do it. Since I would want to use non-hardening clay, I think it would be great to take a picture of them with what they created so they will have a keepsake to remember. All I will need is non-hardening clay and some ink for my printer.
