Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach the most loving, kind- hearted group of students with SEVERE disabilities. So you can get an understanding of some of the disabilities my students have... my students can have, have had or currently have; severe autism, seizing disorders, down syndrome, intellectual disability, medically fragile, are fed through a "G- Tube" or feeding tube, are unable to complete basic daily hygiene skills like showering, dressing, brushing teeth, using the restroom and eating on their own and sometimes are even homeless. Now let me make it clear, my students are AMAZING, kind, smart and PEOPLE FIRST. They have disabilities but that is not what defines them or their defining factor. However, with these severe disabilities comes often a financial burden that can be relieved with your help. Please consider helping my remarkable students succeed and do their best!
My Project
My students have a variety of moderate to severe disabilities that can make learning challenging. The resources they need to maximize their learning are unless and not attainable through only district and school- provided resources. My students would benefit from the bean bag chairs because many of my students have physical disabilities that make sitting in a typical classroom chair very uncomfortable. My classroom needs a speaker so that we can play music during their adaptive PE classes and for our fun active activities. Lastly, we need headphones badly as the ones given are cheap and break every year. Many of my students accommodations include text- to- speech and therefore, headphones are very necessary. Please help me provide a more comfortable learning environment for my amazing students!
