This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
In this first grade class, the students come from a wide variety of backgrounds. We have an ethnically and economically diverse group. Students have a range of abilities and work well together, supporting one another's efforts. There are a few English language learners, a few students with special needs, and several gifted students.
We are a community of writers who write together and individually every day!
Some of us write well above grade level, some are on level and some write below grade level expectations, but we all write every day.
My Project
We need a new easel to allow us to do lessons and conduct group discussions in our meeting area. We have an old one that is sort of tattered and has no magnetic capability. This one will let me demonstrate math and science lessons as well as writing and phonics lessons. We will be so thrilled to be able to put magnetic base ten blocks on the board and manipulate them to teach about place value. Then later we can use the flip chart to review phonemic sound spellings! We will enjoy using this piece of equipment and it will be used every day multiple times a day!
