Help me give my students a better way to check out classroom books! This mobile classroom library will be able to be wheeled out to the front to allow students to check out leveled readers!
I have a wonderful bunch of virtual learners this year that come from a wonderfully diverse background. We are rocking and rolling in virtual school and they are doing amazing. We have faced so many challenges this year and they are truly the most resilient bunch.
This class of 38 kids is one I will never forget and is so near to my heart.
We are coming from quite literally 38 different homes. The one thing we have in common is logging on to class at 8:00 and being part of a class family. We don't eat lunch in the same spot, it is just this one computer. Building a sense of a classroom has been hard but so rewarding. I really can say they LOVE coming to school! They are excited to log on, tell me about their day and be silly with me. We have somehow kept the magic of kindergarten alive and well here in this little virtual space.
My Project
I have been virtual teaching since August and have had the opportunity to have 42 students in my class! One thing that I really see as a problem is that there is no way for the kiddos to take books home from school, especially the leveled readers. We have online book subscriptions, but it is not the same as having a book in your hand. I am hoping this project will allow me to level and create a mobile book check out system. I have all of the leveled readers ready to go, I just need a place to house them that is easily moved outside to inside. This mobile book shelf and durable baskets will allow this to happen! This will allow students to come to the front of the school, check out a book and then return it when they are done. I am excited about the opportunity of getting books into the hands of kids!
