This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students in my first grade classroom are creative, eager to learn and enthusiastic about reading. I teach in a low income school where a majority of my students do not receive or have books in their homes. The place where my students gain a love for reading starts in classrooms.

Once my students find their love for reading they become passionate, motivated and engaged in all types of books.

Books are an essential part of learning and build a culture of reading.

My Project

First Graders develop the tools they need for reading through printed text. The classroom library is a phenomenal resource for students to read various types of literature.

When a student learns to read and loves reading, they are able to explore a whole new world.

Books provoke curiosity, vocabulary enrichment and language and literacy development. Using a classroom library with leveled texts, students are able to read and explore books they can understand and develop their imagination. With a classroom book shelf, students will be able to find their level of books with ease and enjoy a relentless culture of reading.
