Mobile Easel for Science Fair Project Planning & Collaboration
My students need a mobile easel to help with their upcoming Science Fair Project planning. The mobile easel is able to hold the large poster-size post-its which will allow students to collaborate and communicate on projects.
My students are wonderful, bright and caring individuals who come from some of the most challenging socioeconomic backgrounds. It is a challenge for them to walk to school and home every day because they live in such a high-crime neighborhood. A young man was murdered across from the school just last year.
They are truly disadvantaged and the majority come from immigrant families in which they are the "hope for the future." They are here to live the American Dream and their education is their pathway to achieving these dreams.
These young people have hearts, minds and hands that are ready, willing and able to learn, act and participate in our great society. They need all of us to come together to support them in this endeavor. My students care about their community and city. They want to be positive impacts and grow up to be successful young men and women. Together, we can be the force that lifts them from poverty and violence and leads them to a brighter future.
My 6th grade students love to work together, collaborating, designing, drawing and planning their Science Projects. I have purchased some poster-sized Post-Its to help them develop their Science Fair Projects. Because my students live in a socio-economically disadvantaged situation, their families have trouble affording items like this for them to use. My school does not have easels or funding and this small piece of equipment could make a huge impact on my students' ability to be successful and have an experience that is common in classrooms across America.
I want my students to be able to enjoy the opportunities to collaborate and develop their projects creatively.
Having a mobile easel will allow each group some time with the tools that all students should have access to. his will help them not only with their exciting Science Fair Projects, but also with developing important teamwork and collaboration skills that they can take with them into high school, college and future jobs. Ultimately, my goal is to see my students being excellent members of whatever team they're on and ultimately, engaged and productive members of our society.
I look forward to seeing groups of students having a turn, working huddled around the mobile easel together. I envision their excited faces and voices as they eagerly plan their projects together. I look forward to the excitement on their faces when they realize that their group gets to use the mobile easel next. This excitement for learning translates into young people who want to learn more and more. A small tool that can make a big difference and impact!
