"Every child is an Artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up" - Pablo Picasso
Here at my charter school, we believe in a "hands-on" approach to learning.
We are a K-8, charter school, that believes students should be actively engaged and involved in the learning process. We take pride in our students learning through experimentation and hands on projects.
My Project
We need drawing boards and pencils for our art class! We have up to 25 students per class and sometimes, we barely have enough room for projects. For example, when doing our shading projects, we only had a certain amount of "cones and cubes" (which I bought with my own money), to get them to draw to see light and dark shadows. We had students pull up to three, different tables and the space was limited. This is just one example where having mobility in the art room would be important. These drawing boards give us mobility. Also, it would give the students more freedom to move around the classroom and have more personal space.
Besides just helping with mobility in the classroom, we could also use the drawing boards to take our art learning outside!
I truly believe getting students into different environments helps to aid the creative process. **Students could go outside to draw trees, instead of asking me to pull up a picture of a tree online. This is just one example. Actually drawing what you SEE, observation drawing, is so important. These boards would give us the freedom and mobility to do that
