My Students

I teach in a middle school that has a good many students from low income families. These students are all eager to learn but often have difficulty with simple items such as school supplies. A good percentage of my students suffer from learning disabilities or have difficulties in areas such as reading or math. My students do not let these difficulties become obstacles to learning.

My students show a genuine interest in science but have not been given the resources to get fully involved in the science learning experience.

They try not to let this lack of resources slow them down but I can see that they want to be able to do more. Science is about exploration and experimentation. My students are eager to explore the world of science and I want to provide them with new ways to explore and new experiments to excite them.

My Project

I have great students that have trouble staying focused while seated. These students want to stand but by doing so they become a distraction. They want to learn but they feel confined in a standard desk or seat. Most classrooms do not provide options for these students.

I want my students to feel that they can be comfortable while learning at the same time.

Stand up desks placed in strategic locations around my classroom will allow my students to comfortably stand while also participating in the classroom learning. My students will enjoy being able to stand and learn without being considered a distraction to my other students.
