Mobile Boards and Boogie Boards Get Students Learning
My students need the mobile dry erase board, so I can take it with me into the general classrooms or hallways to do intervention, and the Boogie Boards will give them the multisensory practice they need.
My students have special needs, because they don't learn like the typical students. The students that I service are in grades Kindergarten through 3rd grade. The areas that they need the most direct intensive instruction in are reading and writing. There are many 1st grade students that I will be working with next year that still need to learn their letters, as well as the phonetic sounds that the letters make.
With the use of all of their senses, learning modalities, and learning styles, my students soak up knowledge like sponges.
They are so excited and eager to learn. When they have the opportunity to do activities and use tools that allow them to get engaged, they start closing the gap in their learning.
My Project
The mobile dry erase board is essential to learning in my classroom. It is used for direct, intensive instruction in reading, writing, and math. The mobility of it will allow me to roll it into general classrooms or hallways to do intervention with my students on IEP's. For example, every day, I display the phonics strategies of the week that students need to use for practice as they are learning to read and spell. It will also be used to show needed visuals of mathematics examples for my students on IEP's.
The individual Boogie Boards will really get the students boogie-ing as they practice their letters every day.
My students don't learn like the typical students, and they need to use all of their senses to learn. The Boogie Boards allow them to use their sense of touch and sight as they say and hear the letters and the letter sounds as they are practicing them. It really works!
