Help me give my students the technology necessary to be competitive in marching band.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
After a revolving door of band directors left our band program discouraged and limited in numbers, we began a rebuilding process last year with the hiring of a new band director. Through both the trials of rotating teachers and the rebuilding process itself, our students have remained dedicated and loyal to music education and helping to restore the program to its full potential.
Our students volunteer countless hours outside of school to advocate for the band program, and they constantly provide their talents to both school and community.
Our high school students volunteer their study hall to help younger middle school students on a daily basis, and our middle school students work to help their peers whenever possible. We strive to create a family atmosphere and culture within our program, and this would not be possible without the commendable passion and character of our students.
To be competitive in modern marching band, it is a near-requirement that technology is involved. From allowing student solos to be heard to adding in effects that instruments are unable to attain, a proper mixer and sound system are essential in a successful field show.
This mixer and accompanying cable will allow our students the opportunity to rise to the competitive level of surrounding marching band programs in the region.
It will be used to both showcase our outstanding players and to allow our field show to meet the modern demands of the marching industry, setting our students up for the success they deserve.
