My Students

My students are working in a foods lab with 36 in each class. Time is limited, resources are limited and the hand mixers keep breaking because of overuse. New stand mixers make cooking heavenly and we are able to make so many more versatile creations in a shorter amount of time.

The students love learning to cook and create nutritious , and resourceful foods.

They would love to go beyond the basic cookie recipe and try breads, etc... Time is very limited when your resources are limited. I know they would take great care of these mixers and I would love to see the smiles on their faces when they realize how much more they can do in class.

My Project

With new mixers the frustration level will diminish in the classroom. Kitchenaid mixers will also give them an opportunity to create more advanced projects because of the variety of attachments for bread, pasta, etc.. These students are vocationally bound and will be able to move forward faster with greater skill levels.

Students now days are becoming more and more self sufficient and work based learning is so important to them.

If they have a positive experience in the classroom they will want to take their knowledge further. This is exactly what happened to me when my mom finally broke down and got a new machine for us. There was a lot going on in the kitchen!
