This is my 9th year teaching at our school and every year my scholars amaze me with their dedication, insight, humor, and desire to know more! This year's 8th graders are no exception. I love that they come to school with questions about the world around them and they are ready to work with me and one another to explore the answers.
The science classroom is a place where scholars are safe to ask questions, share ideas, and explore the world around them.
It's through their questions and investigations that they learn about physics, chemistry, genetics, and the environment. In our science classroom the learning doesn't end there. It's important that scholars see how science can be used to enhance their everyday lives.
In science class scholars use experimentation to help explore the natural world. Each year I work to add more opportunities for my scholars to learn through experimentation.
These labs will allow my scholars to see mitosis and explore the chemical bonds of H2O.
Scholars will work in small groups with the Modeling Mitosis kit and deepen their understanding of mitosis. They will also work with the Magnetic Water kits to identify the chemical bonds that make water. Both of these kits will bring a hightened level of engagement and excitement to my classroom as scholars learn about chemical bonds and mitosis.
