Celebrate Black Teachers and Students
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The student's that I service are all Exceptional Needs students in an urban setting. Their areas of disability range from Autism Spectrum Disorder, to Specific Learning Disability.
Being prepared with the necessary tools is essential to their academic success.Many of the student's are academically driven but very often lack much needed school supplies.
Lack of organization is definitely a hindrance to the completion of many tasks due to the inability to determine a point of initiation.
Organizing the needed supplies and having access to them assists in making that possible. The student's tend to develop a stronger sense of pride and desire to complete more than satisfactory products when the items are readily available accessible to them.
My Project
The student's that I service frequently are unable to secure the necessary and/or adequate very basic supplies that are needed for them to complete and submit satisfactory projects in a timely manner. Items such as folders, markers and methods for the students to maintain some organizational skills are paramount. The inability to secure these items unfortunately may lead to them receiving a less than satisfactory grade. With the necessary supplies they will be able to complete their assignments and compete fairly with their peers.
The student's take GREAT pride in submitting superior projects and it excites them to be able to compete from the same vantage point as other students. Basic supplies are essential for this process.
