I have a unique class this year. My school decided to mainstream special education. I have five autistic children with very unique personalities. I also have some incredibly gifted students. Our reading range is from 254 to 1150. I need to try some new styles of learning to meet all their different needs. They love working together and it is magical to watch them help each other. I want to teach them how to help each other find success this year!
My Project
Everyone learns differently. In today's teaching there is a lot of collaboration skills being taught. Last year I bought large tables to help group my class better. This year I want to encourage them to make their own choices of where they learn best. Whether it be on the floor, standing at a table, working with a partner at their floor desks, taking it outside on a lap desk, sitting on a bouncy ball, I want to empower my students to be their best. I want to teach them while they are young, what learning style works best for them.
