Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember learning to use a computer, iPad, iPod or any other type of technology? I am sure it was intimidating to some and to others it came easily. Our world is so technologically advanced and I do my best to use technology in the classroom so that they are prepared for the future.
Our school is a Title I school, consisting of 482 students.
We are 93% free or reduced price lunch. Our students love school! The majority of them are here from 7 AM to 6 PM. Our school serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. My students are very fortunate to attend a school where they can get the help they currently need, however I want them to be prepared for the future. All children will need computer skills in the future. They must know how to use a computer or tablet, and how to effectively use one or the other.
My class consists of eight boys and eight girls who are learning so much each and every day. They love to learn new things and to share them with others. We learn so many things each day, but I feel that it is imperative to have computer skills for the future job market. Please help my students become more "tech-savvy" by donating to our classroom. The skills that I can teach them with this equipment will benefit them for the rest of their lives.
My Project
I am requesting an Apple TV and a keyboard to go with our classroom iPad. The Apple TV is imperative because I will then be able to use the iPad and the Promethean Board simultaneously. If our class gets Apple TV, I won't have to stand at the front of the class to teach, nor will the students have to walk to the front of the room to contribute to each lesson. An Apple TV will allow the students and I to work from where we are in the room.
I have also asked for donations to receive a keyboard for the iPad. It is so important for students to learn how to take notes; they will need this skill in middle and high school, as well as college. Many of us used paper and pencil to take notes, in this day and time a laptop or tablet is more common. I would like to teach my students to take notes with the tablet and be able to display them on the Promethean Board so that they are prepared for future grade levels and so that they are college ready.
My students appreciate anything and everything that is donated to our class.
Most of our school supplies are donated or purchased by me. If we receive funding for this project, my students will be better prepared for their future school career and learn to use technology in an effective manner. Please help improve their future!
