My students need an easel/chart stand for lessons so that I can teach them using visual strategies. My students also need book bins to store the books they choose each week from our classroom library.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have 20 wonderful students to start my first year of teaching, and I am so excited to learn alongside them this year. My 2nd grade students come from a variety of backgrounds and speak several different home languages including Somali, Spanish, and Vietnamese. As a school, around 75% of students qualify for free and reduced priced meals.
As a whole, the 2nd graders at my school made amazing growth in literacy and math last year, and I am so excited to continue to help them grow this year.
My Project
As a first year teacher, I am looking forward to providing my students with an engaging and loving classroom environment. Doing this means that I need a variety of supplies including an easel to teach from, book bins, and culturally relevant and responsive books. These supplies will help to get our school year off to a positive and engaging start.
By donating to my project, you will be helping my students get off to a great start in our classroom by making sure that they have some of the items that make a classroom feel like a home.
