My students need ten-frame set, phonics cube set, Unifix cubes, and AlphaMagnets. My students need an easel for whole group instruction and small group instruction. My students need a shelf for organization.
My class is a center based classroom. I believe students benefit from hands on learning. The students in my class are always moving around from activity to activity. It is a safe environment where students are encourage to explore.
I have a group of 22 energetic kindergarten students.
Each of these students learn in a different way and at a different pace. These students benefit from hands on instruction as well as whole group instruction. My school is located in an urban district and is very diverse. The district I teach in is considered a magnet school district. The magnet system was implemented to ensure racial balance in each one of its schools, allowing for diversity. Additionally, the district provides “parental choice,” meaning parents and students can choose which magnet theme (e.g. science, the arts, technology) they are most interested in and apply for enrollment in the school that specializes in that theme.
My Project
I will use the teaching easel for whole group instruction and small group instruction. The dry erase/magnetic board allows me to use the board for small centers. The magnetic letters can be used on the easel to build words and sentences. The hands on math and phonics materials will be used during center time. Students benefit from hands on learning. Ten frames are a large part of the common core standards. I will use the shelf to teach students organization skills. Everything has a place and it helps to teach responsibility.
The donations to this project will improve my classroom by providing many hands on materials.
It will change my students' lives for the better by providing them with additional hands on materials that will make learning fun. The easel will provide my students a center for whole group instruction. They will have a large visual for lessons being taught.
