My Students
Because I am a first year teacher, I have not had the opportunity to meet my students yet, but I already love them so much and want to give them the best year possible. Kindergartners are so curious and eager to learn, which is one of the things that I love the most about this age. Sometimes I feel like they teach me more than I teach them. This year is so important for these children because it will set the tone for the next 12 years of their lives, and I want to make it a positive one!
My Project
I am a first year teacher, and because of this I don't have very many books, or funds to purchase books. These books will be used to help foster literacy in our classroom and get the students excited about not only reading but many different subjects. We will be using these books in different units throughout the year. For example, our first unit that we will be doing as a class is life cycles of butterflies. These books will help us to extend our learning, which I may not be able to do otherwise with my limited materials. I believe that reading is very important at this age because not only does it benefit them developmentally, but it gives them a love of learning which will help them throughout all of their school years.
