My Students

My first graders attend a great school in Northern California. The school that I work for is in a high-poverty area. Some of my students face the normal things that are often associated with poverty. These obstacles do not impact their love for school. My students love to learn new things and are very excited about learning how to read.

I am very happy that I work at a school where the staff really believes that all students can achieve academic success with the right support and mindset.

My Project

My students need their own headphones to use with their Ipads. The previous years my students shared headphones. Many of those headphones have sound in one ear, and/or missing the ear cushions. I am also requesting pencils to start the school year off with. My school provides me with a limited number of pencils. The thicker pencils that my young students need are rarely part of the back-to-school specials, and tend to cost more than standard sized pencils. I am also requesting disinfecting wipes to help keep our class clean. Your generous donations are truly appreciated. I do not send home "wish-lists" with my students like teachers do that work in wealthier areas.
