Hooray! This project is fully funded
Who is the fairest of them all? My wonderful students of course! I am asking for a class set of mirrors to create self portraits for the visual arts classes at Hill Arts Magnet Middle School in Winston, Salem, NC.
If funded, 130 students will participate in this project this year. However, a class set of mirrors can be used for many years to come.
We are an Equity Plus school with a 92% free and reduced lunch population. My art budget allows me to buy the bare minimum supplies needed, therefore I can not afford mirrors.
Why this project you may ask? Drawing self portraits ties in with our standard course of study: The learner will develop critical and creative thinking skills and perceptual awareness necessary for understanding and producing art (Goal 1). It also relates to art history: The learner will understand the visual arts in relation to history and cultures (Goal 5).
