How can we send our future leaders into the word without a complete understanding of mathematics? Students are getting quickly left behind and are unable to do simple mathematics as they are only taught the "rules" and not really what they are doing. Students in my room love to tell me what they are learning as they are excited about moving forward with their learning without ever learning a "rule."

Walking through each classroom, you will often hear students talking about how they can learn different concepts and skills. Each student loves to be in charge of their own education and love anything hands on.
My Project
Students will be working with each manipulative in multiple ways. In Pre-Algebra and Geometry, students will be working with the geometric shapes to work on attributes of 3D objects. Students are just starting to understand surface area and through the use of the folding 3D shapes, students have the visual not just the conceptual understanding.
Linear understanding is the hardest for students to gain understanding.
Through your donation, students will be able to have tools that will encourage them to discover linear equations all on their own. They will set up their own problem and have the oprotunity to play with their own math.
