My second-grade students come from a variety of ethnic and economic backgrounds. They are a great bunch of students who have an intense love of learning. Our class is a 1 to 1 technology class, meaning every student has a Chromebook. This has been a great opportunity for new learning; however, we are always on the lookout for new ways to get the class moving and working with their hands.
My students love to learn about new things.
I believe they should have the opportunity to learn in the way they need to. They need engaging and fun materials along with the basic necessities to help them concentrate on learning. We would love to get some new programs for the class to get us up and moving. We also want to continue to add to our Minion classroom.
Our class is working on our classroom environment. We are trying to make it all things minion. We have also started to use a Wii U instead of our X-Box because it is easier for the class to dance and move around. We need minion stuff and new Wii games.
With the cold weather on the way, the new Wii-U games will help us to keep moving in the classroom.
The use of whiteboards is almost a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math. Using the workshop model in math, students come to the rug with whiteboards for guided practice and to record modeled strategies. The whiteboards allow me to see exactly what they are doing, as well as provide an easy place for them to show and share their work. What becomes a problem is the fact that the erasers seem to disappear, our hope is that with the new minion erasers, we will have better luck holding on to them.
The erasers and other minion stuff will help my students get excited about learning.
