My students are from a small community with high expectations but limited resources. Students are expected to look beyond the classroom and into the world to develop solutions to everyday problems. Students take on this challenge with rigor and purpose developing projects that address issues in their families, communities, state, and nation. They are the solution seekers of the future and deserve all the support they can get.
I endeavor to make learning experiences in the classroom both enjoyable and memorable.
By providing students with the opportunity to take their learning beyond the classroom, developing partnerships with community stakeholders, I can provide the best learning environment possible. Such experiences not only improve the livelihood of the students themselves, but also improve their families and the community in which they live.
My Project
My classroom is in need of basic equipment for students to excel in areas of Family and Consumer Sciences. As students begin to learn basic areas of clothing management and garment care, they will need of pressing equipment including a dressmakers ham and a sleeve roll. In addition, students in my class also discover the nutritional benefits of cooking at home. As they demonstrate basic safety and sanitation, they are required to wear appropriate attire. The aprons purchased will serve a practical purposes during food lab days.
These basic life skills are necessary for my students to be successful managers of their families, communities, and careers.
My students enjoy applying skills they learn in other classes such as math and science. Learning by application allows them to retain much more information. How great is it that they can also benefit their families and communities along the way?!
