My Students
Our school is a very diverse population, with about thirty percent of the student body is African American, Caucasian, and Hispanic. All students are bused. All the students are eligible for free lunch. I had been a science teacher for over twenty years. I came to our school to teach STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering Art, and Math) and finally, teach beyond the school district curriculum.
I am looking for funding to teach coding to my students.
I looking for funds to purchase a class set of Mini Sphero Robots. Sphero robots make remarkably cool programmable robots that transform the way kids learn, create, and invent through coding, science, music, and the arts.
My Project
Teach my students the basics of coding. Students will work in groups and navigate their robots through a series of mazes. Through these challenges, students will learn how to work in groups, how to solve problems, and how to code.
I teach automation and robotics class at my middle school.
Using the engineering design process to design, build, and test prototype robots. Students, however, have a difficult time programming their robots. Many of my students to not have prior experiences with both coding and programming. Sphero will give my student an engaging and hands one understanding of coding.
