My students are a wonderful group of third graders. They come to school ready and eager to learn; however, we are Title I school and have a high population of low income families, some of whom are living at or near the poverty level. Because our families are on very limited budgets, some students don't have backpacks to hold their school supplies. Yet, our families love and care very much for their children and want the best education for them. Our students deserve to have every opportunity to be academically successful.
My Project
My third grade students need the opportunity to learn how to code. It’s a 21st century skill that most schools are now including as part of their instruction. My students have never had the opportunity to use technological tools like this before. This will be their first step into coding. We would share these two Mini Sphero balls as a class. My students will be learning a technological skill as well as having fun. If we are fully funded, my third graders will never forget coding for the first time. I believe this is a skill every student needs for their successful career.
